Trevor Carey is a radio talk show host for Colorado stations KNUS, where he has a weekly show on Saturdays; and KFKA, where he appears as part of a trio: “AM Colorado with Trevor, Troy and George”.
On a recent show Carey talked about how he objected to a request from GLAAD (Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) to refer to a transgender murder victim, Angie Zapata, as “she”.

Carey claimed that the GLAAD representative agreed with him that being transgender is “abnormal” (a claim GLAAD denies). Carey went on to declare, in reference to transgender people, that there is “something wrong with their head” and they are “mentally ill”.
Carey then agreed with a caller who said, about a person like Angie Zapata, who lived as a woman and had male genitalia, “… if you’re frauding somebody, you need to have your teeth kicked in” (emphasis added).
Carey also warned transgender citizens, “you should pay attention” to what happened in Greely (the Colorado town where Allen Andrade reportedly murdered Zapata), implying that if they didn’t change their transgender ways they might have their heads bashed in with a fire extinguisher like Zapata.
